PSPA International Ensemble Presents Moonlight Serenade

The Perak Society of Performing Arts (PSPA) International Ensemble has been the center of music making in Asia since 2007. Each year the ensemble attracts outstanding local and international musicians to Ipoh, provides them a platform to share their talents with each other, and ultimately allows the musicians to contribute their gifts to the community of Ipoh, Perak.

Entering its third year, the International Ensemble of the PSPA has already attracted top musicians from more than six countries. What entices these exceptional artists is a wonderful arena of discovery and an opportunity to achieve artistic and humanistic excellence. It is a musical experience and community unlike any other.

The ensemble aims to reach people from all walks of life by providing a variety of music, from the most well-known classical, to Broadway, jazz, and pop music. The International Ensemble also aims to reach out to the community; its goal is to provide harmony for ALL.

This year the Perak Society of Performing Arts (PSPA) International Ensemble is back in town with the concert, themed ‘Moonlight Serenade’, is another innovative one which would feature an entirely new cast of international musicians, set to take centre stage once again to thrill music lovers on a musical journey from instrumental to vocal works and from solos to chamber music, encompassing music from a variety of eras.

It will be the first time that the ensemble has a ‘voice’ in its performances. Homegrown Ipoh boy, Mr Eugene Pook, Music Director who plays the clarinet, would be leading the International Ensemble for the third time also be joined by soprano singer Mari Moriya from Japan, had previously performed at prestigious opera houses worldwide. Joining them on stage will be American flutist Carmen Lemoine, violinist Eric Wang (London), viola player Lau Yew-Hann (Malaysia), cellist Chan Wei Shing (Singapore) and pianist Vicky Chow (Canada).

As usual, the ensemble continues to fulfill its mission of providing musical excellence for the next generation through their concerts and workshops. This year PSPA will reach out to music students in Ipoh, KL, and Penang, and workshops will take place in the Tenby Schools.
